HAMPTON, Va. — A man has died following a shooting at a 7-Eleven on E. Mercury Boulevard Wednesday night, according to Hampton Police.
Around 5:43 p.m., there were multiple reports of a shooting at the 7-Eleven in the 1st block of E. Mercury Boulevard, police said. Officers went to the scene and found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Crews with the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue went to the scene and administered medical aid on the man, police detailed. He was sent to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that a fight happened between the man and a suspect at the gas pumps, leading to the suspect shooting the victim multiple times.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police stated.
