CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A pedestrian died after he was hit by a car on I-64 Tuesday morning in Chesapeake, according to Virginia State Police.
This happened just before 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 299 in Chesapeake. The pedestrian has been identified by police as Cliff Garris, 51, of Portsmouth.
Police say the driver of the car, Ilsia Mendoza of Central Islip, New York, stayed at the scene. Islip is charged with failure to maintain control.
The crash is still being investigated.
